GOLDEN GLOBE WATCH PARTY TREATS
This coming Sunday, the 76th Annual Golden Globes will be airing at 8pm ET on NBC. I don’t have any predictions, but there are movies and TV shows that I want to win and listen, 2018 was a good year for both which is rare. Admittedly, I don’t always go to the movies because I’m much more of a TV watcher (and theaters are high AF in NYC), but in 2018, I took my little coins (thanks work discount) and treated myself to the movies…and didn’t movie hop…GASP! I know, wild.
So here is what I am hoping wins: If Beale St Could Talk directed by Barry Jenkins. If you haven’t seen it, make sure that you do. It was beautiful. BEAUTIFUL. And on the flip side, I also loved A Star Was Born, and of course Black Panther which are all in the drama category. For comendy, there are a couple that I saw and Crazy Rich Asians was my fave of the nominees, loved the books, loved the movie. I recently watched The Favourite and it made me chuckle a few times, but it was mostly sad to me. I still haven’t had time to catch the other nominees so it’s anyone’s game. I’m certain that the Hollywood Foreign Press will have their work cut out for them. As for television, I will keep those picks to myself since I watch way too much TV, but I will say that I was thrilled to see that newcomer, Pose was nominated, shout out to representation! On the downside, another fave, Queen Sugar was shut out again and I don’t know what that’s about.
With all that said, if you’re watching, you’ll need some snacks. So here is a menu to set the mood whether you’re alone or with friends.
CRAZY FANCY CHARCUTERIE - If you do this right, this could be your whole meal. It has a little bit of everything, nuts, cheese, meat, fruit, jams, olives, bread or crackers. This beautiful one from Dennis The Prescott is a great one to copy. To help save money, hit up Aldi and get your board set up on the low low.
WHAT’S POPPIN, POPCORN - While scrolling the good ol’ facebook, I came across music maestro and fellow foodie Questlove’s new popcorn seasoning line. SAY WHAT NOW? Yes, it’s a thing and I need it. But if you don’t have time to head to William Sonoma before the show, you can always do something super easy and flavorful. I like to add butter (of course), salt, garlic powder and a little truffle oil then shake. After I post this, I’m heading down to check this selection out…unless they want to send me some. HOLLA AT ME.
AND THE WINNER IS…THIS CUPCAKE - We’re keeping it cute and fancy over here with these beautiful cupcakes. One of my fav foodie pages on instagram, Butter Be Ready, made these beautiful Blackberry and Rosé cupcakes and I am all in. And when I am back on that sugar (you know, dieting, cuz New Year) I will definitely try to replicate. You can find this recipe here on her website.
TOAST TO THE WINNERS - And to close out the night, wash all of the yumminess down with this super fancy Whiskey and Champagne cocktail made by another fellow foodie, Dash of Jazz. Very simple and super chic for your night. Honestly, after this, I might make one myself, for reasons.
