FMS MUST SEE: DOUGHFEST 2016
TIMEOUT NEW YORK DOUGHFEST
Over the weekend I attended a greedy girl's dream aka Time Out Magazine's #doughfest. A fest for yes, you guessed it...doughnuts. I was hoping that some of my favorites like Doughnut Plant, Dough and some others would be there, but I was happy to sample something new. My friend Kali Brown and myself made the rounds to each of the tables to gorge ourselves on the yummy delights. I don't have any favorites, but there was one doughnut that stuck out from the rest and that's the olive oil and black pepper doughnut from The Doughnut Project and get this, it's called The Bronx. Yes I got a laugh at that because they must be thinking of the new Bronx...not The Bronx that I know. The dough was the right texture and you weren't slapped with an overdose of sugar that some of the other doughnuts had.
Another favorite was the jelly doughnut from Orwashers. I don't always love jelly donuts, but they were definitely up there on the satisfactory scale. I also have to acknowledge Sweetleaf Coffee for their delicious coffee. I am not the biggest coffee drinker but when you are eating doughnuts, a hot beverage like coffee or tea does the trick. I'll also add that I went back for seconds, so when I say that it was good, trust me. It reminded me of the chicory flavor from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans.
All in all, an event that's dedicated to doughnuts or any sweet and delicious food is an event for me. The crowd was mixed with moms on a playdates that needed to pump and dump, hipsters and regular doughnut connoisseurs like Kali Brown and I.
In the pic below you'll probably wonder why aren't many of my favs included, but you see I eat first and think later lol. It just happens...Thanks for reading
