I ATE THAT: BLVD Bistro
Harlem is bustling with new and fun restaurants. Growing up in Harlem, we might have had five decent places to have a decent meal, many of which have gone on to greener pastures, RIP Majesters (best fried fish, I've ever had) and Georgie's (BEST DONUTS and ROLLS) and a few others that I can't remember. Of course, I'm talking about the old Harlem, but it's 2015 and it's all about the new Harlem and I must say that I am very pleased.
This past Mother's Day weekend I had the pleasure of spending a Saturday brunch with my mom at BLVD Bistro. It's a little over a year old and after hearing some positive feedback about the restaurant I had to check it out for myself. I was not disappointed.
The prices are fairly reasonable...even though there's no unlimited mimosa option (just saying). My mom had the blueberry pancakes with blueberry compote and let me just tell you, THE BOMB DOT COM (I'm bringing that back).
They were even good without syrup. By now, you're probably wondering why I didn't have the pancakes if they were so good. Well, I'm not one to choose a sweet breakfast as my first option because I like savory breakfasts which brings me to what I ordered. Now keep in mind, I was hungry and when the waitress told me about the special, I didn't ask any questions, I just ordered it.
The special for the day was fried catfish, cheesy grits, scrambled eggs and a biscuit. Listen Linda Listen! I ate almost every morsel. Almost because I ate a good portion of my mom's pancakes. I was not disappointed with either meal and now I want to go back for lunch and dinner.
